@MrAntiHero1 @PandasAndVidya It's funny to think that the Tech Priests probably don't really know what a machine spirit is. They just follow schematics and it produces a machine spirt. They don't know how, or why. So everything could have one. For example they don't even know that Ironkin are AI.

One the one hand making female Custodes are dumb.
On the other hand, It fits with my head cannon that the Custodes were "The Men of Gold" and the Emperor repurposed their genetics from vat/clones (dim souls) to being made from men/women(strong souls) like the Space Marines.
