@Mr_Oldfield @rickwormeli2 When I was in my 2nd year teaching, I went to hear @rickwormeli2 speak. It changed the way I viewed EVERYTHING in my classroom and was a catalyst for necessary change. “Grades shouldn’t be used as rewards. Nor should they be used as affirmation, compensation, or validation.”

The primary indicator as to whether or not something is worth pursuing in a lesson shouldn't be its ultimate grade-ability.

Eliminate the word “cancel” in math class!! #SPSmath

A couple years ago, a student said "I know it cancels, but I forgot if it cancels to 0 or 1" so it inspired today's tip of the day to be more precise in language as "cancel" means two things. -5+5 creates a zero pair, 5/5 simplifies to 1.
