@RupertLowe10 Freedom of speech is all well and good if it benefits you isn’t it? If it doesn’t suit you, then you become rather a snowflake about it
English

@ClarksonsFarm1 I think regardless of the argument, anything that is arguably controversial should be posted on an account that doesn’t have implications for someone else and their business. Have the courage to post under your own name.
English

@rwbcat @GeordieApe @RupertLowe10 I’d disagree with that - since 2016 the US has had Trump and Biden. Similarly we’ve had the Tories and now Labour - however in that time, you’ve had 3 presidential terms. We’ve had 6 prime ministers. That wouldn’t happen without the ultimate will of the people
English

Yes, the President's term is for 4 years. However, we vote on Congress every 2 years which can change the direction the country is headed. During Trump's last term everything was at a standstill (2018-2020) because Republicans did not hold the majority in the House. Now, again, we have a Republican President and Congress, but if he and they fail on their promises we could have a Democrat House, Senate, or both in 2026. It seems in the UK that no matter what the people think or want changed there is no way out of it for 5 years.

@ScribaTerrarum @Inevitablewest Brit here… what does that post mean? Just out of interest?
English

@Inevitablewest Not a Brit here, but something tells me their government is going to do it anyway.
English

@rwbcat @GeordieApe @RupertLowe10 Correct me if I’m wrong too but when a president is elected in the US, that is it for 4 years - in the UK, there are ways for Starmer to be removed if (again) it’s a democratic process
English

@rwbcat @GeordieApe @RupertLowe10 But the president and party would be 4 years. Admittedly a year longer but that’s the more appropriate comparison
English

@rwbcat @RupertLowe10 Starmer’s been democratically elected. The King dissolving parliament would be unconstitutional and a gross violation. He’s a figurehead with the power but no democratic right. It’s like asking Trump (also democratically elected) to be removed because people are upset
English

@Nigel_Farage @Keir_Starmer This is at least some sort of solution to the problem you trumpet daily… unless finding a solution before 2029 doesn’t necessarily fit your agenda?
English

I am firmly opposed to @Keir_Starmer’s digital ID cards.
It will make no difference to illegal immigration, but it will be used to control and penalise the rest of us.
The state should never have this much power.
English

@Nigel_Farage Ridiculous… if you were to control the home office, surely that would be the means? Usual clickbate…
English

@PolitlcsUK What a wholesome and convenient situation. What a man….
English

@LionelMedia That’s a lot of American accents and American cars for the UK…

Does #Sunak realise how ridiculous he sounds? £1.8m per asylum seeker… taxpayer funded at a time where ordinary people are really struggling. The mind boggles.
English

Quite something that Richard Tice appears on #bbcqt and yet, somehow the Tory rep STILL manages to put their foot in it and draw attention.
