@Cal_OES is prepositioning firefighting personnel and equipment in advance of forecasted fire weather conditions in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Counties. Beginning Friday morning and lasting through the weekend, this proactive approach has proven to be a critical component of California’s wildfire response strategy, reducing response times and containing fires before they escalate into major incidents. A fire weather watch is in effect. @NWS is forecasting high heat, gusty winds and low humidity through the weekend.

Protection orders work. In the first three years after GVROs were implemented in California, they helped prevent 58 mass shootings. During that same time, no suicides occurred among people who were served with a GVRO. Learn more about prevention tools at ReduceTheRisk.ca.gov.

Today I joined my partners from the @SBCFireInfo, @fs_usda, @Cal_OES to address the ongoing threat of #wildfire across California. We toured a fuel reduction project funded by a #CALFIRE grant in Lompoc. Initiatives such as this significantly contribute to the well-being and safety of our communities.
