⚠️ On Sunday, April 26, we pulled over a car speeding south through a construction zone on Stoney Trail near 96 Ave. N.E. The car was travelling 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. 🔴 The driver received an automatic summons to court. Speed limits are in place to keep everyone safe. Slow down & drive responsibly.

Today is International Drone Day & with summer festivals & events approaching, we are reminding Calgarians that while drones can be fun to fly, they can also affect aviation operations & public safety. ‼️ Flying a drone within 3.5 nautical miles of an airport or 1 nautical mile of a heliport is prohibited. Operators are responsible for understanding & following the rules set by Transport Canada & The City of Calgary. 🔵 CHARGES LAID 🔵 We have charged a 37-year-old man with 2 counts of first-degree murder in relation to the deaths of 2 children found deceased in northwest Calgary yesterday. 📍 Just after 10 a.m., on Thursday, April 30, 2026, we received a phone call that led us to the 4500 block of 14 Street N.W. Upon arrival, we located a vehicle with 2 deceased children inside. The deaths were considered suspicious & our Homicide Unit began an investigation. One man was taken into custody at the scene. The 2 victims have been identified as a 5-year-old boy & a 3-year-old girl. 📌 We have charged the children’s father with 2 counts of first-degree murder. He has been remanded into custody & is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, May 4, 2026. ℹ️ There is a court-imposed publication ban on identifying information of the victims & witnesses. As such, the names of the children & the accused cannot be released at this time. 💬 “This is a devastating & unimaginable loss. Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones & with the officers & first responders who both attended the scene & who are seeing through the investigation. May focuses on #MotorcycleSafety in the Alberta Traffic Safety Calendar & we've compiled some tips to keep everyone safe on the road. For riders: ✅ Follow the speed limit. ✅ Tune up bikes before hitting the road, especially if they’ve been in storage all winter. ✅ Stay out of blind spots, be aware of your surroundings & make sure drivers can see you. ✅ Wear extra protective gear, in addition to a legally required helmet. ✅ Ride in less busy areas when possible. ❗ Road safety is a shared responsibility for drivers & motorcyclists. 🔎 INFORMATION SOUGHT 🔍 Police are asking the public for assistance in an ongoing arson investigation. 📍 At 4:40 a.m., on Sunday, April 19, 2026, a Volkswagen Passat was burned in the driveway of a home located in the 6000 block of Saddlehorn Drive N.E. Security footage shows 2 people walk up to the car, then set it on fire. They then flee east, toward a nearby school. 🔵 CHARGES LAID 🔵 After a complex fraud investigation, 3 people have now been charged & $70,000 worth of off-road vehicles, cash, forged documents & forgery equipment have been seized. In January, investigators learned that stolen identity documents had been used to fraudulently purchase 2 snowmobiles in Calgary & to attempt additional fraudulent purchases across Alberta & Saskatchewan. After a 4 month investigation, police now believe that between November & December 2025, personal information including drivers’ licenses, passports, birth certificates & social insurance numbers were stolen by a group of offenders who then went on to purchase snowmobiles & off-road vehicles, as well as a rental property in Calgary. It is believed that the suspects used forgery equipment to create fraudulent identification with the victim’s personal information. 📍 On Friday, April 3, 2026, police executed a warrant in the 2500 bock of 21 Street S.W. & seized: 🔹 Forgery instruments 🔹 Fraudulent identification 🔹 Over $6,200 in Canadian and US currency 🔹 2 fraudulently purchased Polaris side by side off road vehicles As a result, police arrested & charged 2 people in relation. Cyrta LATAMENE, 24, of Calgary was charged with: 📌 2 counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000 📌 11 counts of possession of forged documents 📌 9 counts of possession of forged passports 📌 5 counts of possession of identity documents 📌 4 counts of identity theft 📌 1 count of possession of forgery instruments 📌 1 count of possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 📌 1 count of possession of stolen mail 📌 1 count of forgery 📌 1 count of identify fraud LATAMENE will next appear in court Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Mahad MUMIN, 24, of Calgary has been charged with: 📌 2 counts of stolen property over $5,000 📌 2 counts of possession of forged documents 📌 1 count of possession of counterfeit money 📌 1 count of possession of stolen mail 📌 1 count of possession of forgery instrument 📌 2 counts of failure to comply with a release order MUMIN was also arrested on 17 outstanding warrants. He will next appear in court Tuesday, May 5, 2026. 📌 Liam RICHARDSON, 20, of Calgary was charged by way of warrant for 1 count of identity theft.
