Calhoun 4-H youth became Engineers for the day! The Jelly Bean STEM project was a success. Youth were encouraged to be creative, use problem-solving skills, while building structures. Youth worked to build geometric shapes and weight to keep their structure sturdy & strong.#MS4H

Calhoun Extension conducted our forestry meeting tonight and discussed reasons landowners may need a forestry consultant. Great participation and discussion about forestry harvest and reforestation. We also had discussion about challenges facing the logging industry. #MSUext

Calhoun Extension conducted our annual wildlife program tonight with Dr. James Goddard, MSU Entomologist. Dr. Goddard spoke on insects affecting people in the outdoors! We also conducted our wildlife food tasting contest with some excellent wild game dishes submitted. #MSUext

Congratulations to Calhoun 4-H members Zoey Byrd & Emilee Davis on exhibiting their rabbits at the Dixie National Jr Round-Up. Emilee Davis received 3rd mini rex senior buck, 3rd commercial senior Buck, and 4th commercial senior Buck. Zoey Byrd received 2nd mini Rex Jr doe. #MS4H

Congratulations to Jillian on an outstanding day at the Dixie National Jr. Round-Up. Jillian placed 2nd with her American Steer, Reserve American Steer, qualifying for the Dixie National Sale of Jr. Champions, MS Bred Reserve Champion, 5th European Steer, and 6th English Steer.

Calhoun 4-H’er Stormy Thompson exhibited swine at the Dixie National 4-H/FFA Jr. Round-Up Show. Stormy received 11th Mississippi Bred Barrow, 7th Duroc Hog, and 9th Yorkshire Hog. #MS4H #LearnWithExtension
