Proactive police work by Western Division Patrol Officers led to two separate arrests and two loaded firearms taken off our streets during last night’s shift.
In the first incident, Officers contacted a group drinking in public near downtown San José. One individual ran but didn’t get far before being taken into custody. A search incident to arrest revealed a loaded handgun with an extended magazine concealed in the suspect’s pants. He was booked for weapons violations and resisting arrest.
In a separate proactive stop, Officers observed a vehicle driving erratically before crashing into a power pole and attempting to leave the scene. The driver continued a short distance but didn’t get far before the damaged vehicle came to a stop. Officers contacted the driver, placed him under arrest, and recovered a loaded firearm from the vehicle. The driver was booked for DUI, hit and run, and illegal possession of a firearm.
Proactive work like this keeps illegally possessed guns off our streets and makes San José safer for everyone. Great job again by Western Division Officers.
