The argument of “it’s a kids movie, you were expecting something of quality!?” Is inherently disrespectful to filmmaking as an art form and easily debunked by the countless “kids films” of exceptional quality.

Just gonna say it, the Mario movie was one of the most soulless & bland pieces of entertainment I ever watched. An hour and a half of a recognizable IP’s iconography being shoved in your face with no real story, character development or anything to connect with emotionally.
