Hugely terrible DRM has now been rolled out to all PS4 and PS5 digital games. Every digital game you buy now requires an online check-in every 30 days. If you buy a digital game and don't connect your console to the internet for 30 days, your license will be removed.

Like, i wouldn’t call Silent Hill 2 fun, it feels miserable to play, its atmosphere fills you with dread, and its story is disturbing. But thats exactly why its one of the best games of all time.

Games prioritize being fun or at the very least engaging because they are INTERACTIVE
They take input and effort from the player to experience. If interacting with a game is a slog or mostly unpleasant, you’ve neglected the art form’s most unique quality

I remember when I first got my PS5, during the first month or so when playing Miles Morales, it froze for a few seconds then proceeded to ROAR at me

@PlayerEssence @MandyleePlays Yea but digital isnt actually getting lower prices. EU markets had this system before and physical games were 10€ more expensive.
What this means is that if for example DK Bananza were to come out today, it would be 70$ digital, 80$ physical. So its a price increase on physical

Nintendo has announced that 1st party games moving forward exclusive on Switch 2, will have different prices for digital vs physical. This is to reflect the cost production of the physical cart.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is $69.99 physical & $59.99 digital.

@TheNCSmaster I dont think its that, i think the main reason why is security reasons. Alot of exploits found on consoles come from the web browser, the PS5 UI for example hid the web browser cuz it was used to exploit previous systems, hell its still the main exploit for PS5 despite that.

Mainly cause smart phones are now so common place. The last consoles that had web browsers built in released in the early 2010’s, but now that everyone and their mom has the internet in their pocket in the 2020’s it’s likely seen as unimportant to include

@realradec You could argue that maybe the Switch 1 wasn't really in direct competition with the others, but the Switch 2 definitely is considering it now runs a strong portion of third party titles.

To add on to this, I never understood the notion that Nintendo was never in direct competition with PlayStation or Xbox
They clearly are and they use the power of their exclusives to get people into their ecosystem, taking away time and money from the other platforms
Switch 2 being a massive success with increasing 3rd party support is going to make it more difficult for Sony and Microsoft in the years to come (which is good, competition is needed). So I understand why PlayStation would leverage their single player exclusives again

Xbox is in a tough spot right now but let's see how the new CEO handles it. As for Nintendo, they've garnered a ton of third party support with the Switch 2. They are 1,000% a direct competitor. Casuals are no longer buying a Nintendo console solely for exclusives, especially with games like FF7 Remake Part 3 releasing on all platforms day 1. It comes down to the better exclusives. Sony has to step it up.

@Septic_Sauce Haven is definitely getting killed soon. I feel like Mm has the smallest chance of the three because they are made up of <100 and their next game is rumored to release next year, still a pretty good chance they end up getting closed tho.

Also, how in the world does this studio die, but Bend Studio, which has done nothing since 2019 still live on?
