Interesting note: This is the first season since 1988 that neither a boys or girls team from Hinds, Madison, or Rankin County won a basketball state championship.

Anthony Carlyle now has 7 state championships as a head coach at four different schools: Velma Jackson (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017) Columbus (2018) Yazoo City (2023) Starkville (2026). He ties his dad, Archie, with 7 state titles.
