The only good thing about #MAGA is they made it ok to use the word retarded again. Because had they not done that, I have no idea what word I’d use to describe them.

@Working_Wealth @rpondiscio Yes, the target should be providing the same level education to all kids. Especially if we’re going to make college unaffordable, poor kids need to be given a shot.

@CallerAngry @rpondiscio "Poor kids should get the same level education rich kids get." No, they shouldn't This is a utopian worldview that is neither feasible nor practical "Poor kids" should get a basic-level education that ensures they will be able to operate in society

If you want to complain, complain. If you want to scream "unfair", do it. We tried dialogue with the left for ten years. It got us nothing except violence and extreme rhetoric. Then you raided Mar-a-Lago, tried to kill Trump twice, and murdered Charlie. Ok then, new rules from now on: the ones we make. We are done talking. Get a whiff of that.

@ginamilan_ No one said a word??? Were you in a fucking coma? There was a global pandemic, a shitty Trump OPEC deal that limited production for 2 years, and the Russia Ukraine war that caused the 9% inflation. What cause the high inflation this time?

@Crawmerican @rpondiscio Yes. The shit strip mall charter schools bring down the average cost. Those are for profit schools that universally suck. The ones I mentioned are the ones affluent people send their kids to. Those are the schools we should be comparing our public schools to.

@CallerAngry @rpondiscio So every one in NY besides those is a shit strip mall chater? The average is 23k a year, it isn't my fault you're too stupid to understand that yes, the three or four most elite private schools in the state will cost more than average, there are still affordable private schools.

@Crawmerican @rpondiscio Cost is different everywhere, because median income ranges from like 40k to 100k, depending on the state, and real estate is WILDLY different even within the same state. It costs way more to have a big building in NY or Boston than it does in east bumfuck Kansas.

@Crawmerican @rpondiscio Wow. You discovered that stuff is cheaper in Kansas. My point again is that you need to look at good LOCAL private schools to determine how much LOCAL tax payer money needs to go to LOCAL public schools per student. In southern NH, that’s Phillips Academy. NY is what I sent.

@Crawmerican @DustinH1130 @rpondiscio Francis W. Parker School, $47k. Lake Forrest Academy, $57k. I’m not talking about strip mall charter schools here. Those suck worse than public schools.

@Crawmerican @rpondiscio Yes, schools cost a different amount depending on the area. Just like houses! But in NY city, what do they cost? The good ones. I know what they cost in NH, and it isn’t $15k. It’s like double that.

@CallerAngry @rpondiscio A decent private school doesn't even cost half that in most of the country, basically my entire extended family went to a private Catholic school for k-12, so I just looked up their tuition for HS students. It's 15k a year for the current school year.

$12,100/year for grades 9-12 and you can get a tax refund voucher to cover up to $7000 of that. cha.org/admissions/tui…

@rpondiscio Ever look at what it costs to send a kid to private school? That’s how much ACTUAL schooling costs. Public education is underfunded. By a lot. Poor kids should get the same level education rich kids get.

@3stddev @rpondiscio The children of terrible parents require more direct time with teachers. The way to achieve that is by producing a better student to teacher ratio. To do that, you need more classrooms and more teachers. Those things cost money. Hence public schools are underfunded.

Public education isn’t underfunded. The problem in NYC now (post COVID) is that there are too many retarded kids due to the higher ratio of retarded parents post COVID. There’s not much even a great teacher can do with a retarded kid. That’s just the truth. No amount of money can fix negligent parenting.

"New York City spends roughly $37 billion/year to educate about 850,000 kids. That's over $42,000 per child per year. And the results are abysmal. Two-thirds of fourth graders can't do math properly and almost three-quarters can't read at grade level... ...What we can do, Mr. Mayor, is tell every mom in NYC that the $42,000 currently spent on that terrible education is going to be her money." Jeff Yass, one of the 2026 Alexander Hamilton Award honorees, on how we can solve NYC's education crisis through school choice.

BREAKING: Boston 25 Sources identify the man who fired at law enforcement on Memorial Drive as 46 year old Tyler Brown. A Tyler Brown with the same birthdate previously shot at Boston Police Officer in May 2020. Then Suffolk DA Rachael Rollins put out a news release in 2021, criticizing the Judge who sentenced Brown in that case for only giving him five to six years in state prison and three years of probation. Rollins said: “I strongly believe that the sentence we proposed – 10 to 12 years followed by five years of probation – was appropriate for the level of brazen violence committed. Of equal concern is the imposition of concurrent sentences for a prior and separate violent assault on a different member of our community.”

@rpondiscio @FrMatthewLC Wouldn’t that imply public schools should cost even more, because you’ll have more difficult to deal with students outside of an ideal environment?

@CallerAngry @FrMatthewLC I'm intimately familiar with the "best" private schools. You're often not paying for top-flight instruction, but a top-flight environment, including motivated, easy-to-teach students, and parents who are remarkably compliant b/c they don't want to damage the brand.

@rpondiscio @FrMatthewLC I’m not arguing that it isn’t cost prohibitive. I’m telling you if you want to know what it costs to run a GOOD school, you need to look at the best private schools. If they could run their schools cheaper, they would. But to be great, that’s what it costs.

@FrMatthewLC @CallerAngry And even that is cost prohibitive for many families. A lot of families at urban charters will tell you they’d send their kids to Catholic school if they had the money.
