🚨A public announcement for the hard of thinking.🚨 For absolute clarity-I do not think trans people are paedophiles per se. I believe self ID creates a significant deficit in safeguarding that abusive men can & will exploit. This should not be viewed as controversial.🤷‍♀️

The poor standard of candidate standing for election has seen thousands of people disengage from party politics over the last decade so it is refreshing to have someone I can positively vote for. Time for change.

No specialist training on coercion, no conscientious objection provision for healthcare staff, no opt-out for hospices and care homes who do not want to participate. The bill is clearly unsafe. Just ask the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Royal College of GPs, Association for Palliative Medicine, the Law Society of Scotland, Glasgow Disability Alliance, British Geriatric Society etc.

The Scottish Assisted Dying Bill is one of the most safeguarded in the world. It restricts assisted dying to terminally-ill mentally-competent adults (over 18) with 6 months or less to live. Disabled people and people with mental illness are not eligible unless terminally-ill. Repeated requests must be made and checks are in place for coercion and competence. People must be advised of social and palliative care options and request assisted dying because of their terminal illness. We urge MSPs to vote FOR this Bill. [Photo from stage 1 demonstration]

Tonight’s final vote on the Assisted Dying Bill is a defining issue for the Scottish Parliament. My thanks to the hundreds of constituents who have engaged with me on this. I have not taken this decision lightly. Please read below why I will be supporting the Bill this evening.

The BS lads are getting their knickers in a twist about @DalgetySusan's piece on the rape crisis sector. They are falling back on the claim that there was no issue with including men in these services until nasty feminists got angry. Actually, as the new alliance & the foundation of Beira's Place shows, there was plenty of dissent for a very long time in the services, despite the messages from "head office". If it was such a "manufactured" problem why was there a disastrous fall out when they put a man in charge of Edinburgh RC? The Wadhwa debacle is proof enough that the "no issues" line was always a lie.

The bill is a disaster waiting 2happen in its present form. Little safeguarding places vulnerable people at significant risk of coercion. With elections around the corner-vote for politicians who are prepared to scrutinise draft legislation & motivated 2protect the vulnerable.
Lisa Mackenzie@lnmackenzie1

How MSPs from different parties voted at Stage 1 of the Assisted Dying Bill. (All 8 Green MSPs voted for the bill, the 2 independents voted against, SNP MSP Neil Gray - the Health Secretary - abstained and the Presiding Officer did not vote.) bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@ForWomenScot @CleverclogsNina Wee Dunc 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have no interest in the views of any man who puts the desires of other men before the needs of female survivors of male sexual violence. Women set up rape crisis centres and domestic abuse shelters for women. And if that makes wee Duncan angry…🤷‍♀️

@ForWomenScot @CleverclogsNina @DalgetySusan Aren’t they all.🙄 I recall back when SNP Women’s Pledge attended a rally in George Sq with our banner. So many hard men keyboard warriors saw us, shat themselves & ran in the opposite direction.😂 Craven misogyny runs deep with inadequate wee dudes.🥱

@CleverclogsNina @DalgetySusan He is so aggressive online and genuinely seems to hate women. In person, he is a rather small, insignificant man and is incapable of challenging women face-to-face.

@CallieMac009 @AHoran79 Mum’s current one is fine but managers in pandemic were out their depth with little/no guidance. We had a strong families group who spoke up & demanded meetings to get to rational understanding with local mgr - her company management were woeful. Dad’s death will horrify you 😢

The Scottish assisted dying bill requires advocacy services which would need to be set up from scratch, yet the bill’s financial memorandum doesn’t even account for it. This bill is a bit of a mess, to be honest. More holes than a block of Swiss cheese. It should be rejected.
Nikki da Costa@nmdacosta

INDEPENDENT ADVOCACY: "The Scottish Government has significant concerns with the breath of the independent advocacy service...no provider is currently equipped to deliver this...would need to be set up specifically with start up costs...[which] have not been accoounted for]

@LetAlbaFlourish @AHoran79 Having worked in social care for many years I have stories that would curl your hair.😳 Our experience is the opposite-the care home is excellent & unless absolutely necessary, we do not want my mum anywhere near a hospital. Our so called ‘progressive’ country is a bin fire.😔

@CallieMac009 @AHoran79 Yep pal, been there with Dad and then Mum. Covid was eyeopening (attempts) to emotionally coerce families into giving up on loved ones in Carehomes if they got ill. “You wouldn’t want your mum to go to hospital the ways things are”. Me: “if Mum needs hospital, call an ambulance!”

@LetAlbaFlourish @AHoran79 When my mum was admitted to hospital the medics were more concerned with us agreeing to a DNR than providing adequate care. I fear should the bill pass the lack of safeguards leaves disabled/elderly people more vulnerable to manipulation & coercion.

As a GP and MSP you also voted for GRR Bill in 2022, so I’ll pass on taking your advice on Assisted Dying - which the College of GPs do not see as a “safe, compassionate” bill but flawed and dangerous lacking in safeguards for vulnerable patients and for healthcare professionals.

As a GP and MSP, I believe that the assisted dying bill offers a safe, compassionate choice for those whose pain cannot be relieved. My article in @heraldscotland explains why. heraldscotland.com/politics/holyr…

@DarcyWAHF @ff_scotland Sturgeon refused to meet with women who had serious concerns, choosing instead to enable & embolden some of the most vile misogynists in Scotland & in the SNP. In holding her to account you did all of us a great service.💜

She is a charlatan a deceiver and a failure yet she gets applauded for that failure. That is why I confronted her. But especially for those women whom I spoke to. Do I regret what I did on Friday do I hell for once I got the organ grinder and not her performing monkeys. The End.

May I address this video When I stated that I was Snp for 30 yrs and I was so disappointed in Nicola having so much hope for the future when she took power. This is true I loved her. I saw her on the steps of Buchanon Galleries with other snp women some of whom became friends
