Better: G Pregnon (63), WR Thompson (105), and (117) still had C's Lew, Hecht, Coogan, Gulbin to address solid C backup/development while having G locked without a doubt.

I see a lot of folks out there crying about Slaughter pick, it’s like they can’t see the forest for the trees. One of my favorite podcasters, @dantalkssports on @LockedonLAC, gave it a C grade. And he mentioned that this grade was based on the @Chargers being able to trade back. That’s an unfair grade to me, that’s like looking at things wearing blinders. It fails to look at the whole picture. It’s not just the @LockedonLAC guys. There are so-called ‘content creators’ out there dropping F’s on it, which is even more ridiculous. Let me explain this to you plain and simple: 1. We traded back into the 3rd round and got Slaughter, the highest graded interior offensive lineman on the board at the time of the pick. (Yes I know you mentioned this). 2. That same trade gave us an opportunity and the ability to trade up and draft Brenne Thompson, plus we grabbed Logan Taylor in the 6th round. (Yes I know you mentioned this too) BUT HERES THE THING YOU ALL IGNORE 3. We were already looking at having to sign backup centers, guards, and tackles, one way or another, guys who’d more likely cost as much if not more but not as young, healthy, or reliable as the draft picks. And I’m gonna be honest with you, I had zero confidence in this team to address all those needs purely through the draft. Hortiz proved me wrong. He was playing chess. Last week we were sitting with only 5 picks and this fanbase was crying about “only 5 picks” lol. Today we’re looking at this offensive line with way more confidence because they were able to draft tackle, center, guard, and wide receiver help. It’s an A to me. Master chef Hortiz. People need to chill and quit the whining. The kid’s a stud. Get excited.
