What I witnessed today inside the hospital, while trying to secure treatment for my daughter, was a catastrophe beyond words—a horrifying scene that will remain with me for the rest of my life. The hospitals here are overwhelmed with wounded people, patients, and thousands suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses. Every single patient searches, day after day, with their own hands and exhausted bodies, for a dose of medicine or a chance at treatment that might grant them a few more days of life. But tragically, there is no treatment left. Cancer patients are suffering the most. Chemotherapy drugs have completely run out, leaving the lives of more than 4,500 cancer patients hanging between life and death as they helplessly watch the disease consume their bodies without mercy. Every day, between 4 and 7 cancer patients lose their lives because treatment is unavailable, chemotherapy sessions have stopped, and medical evacuations continue to be delayed due to Israel's ongoing closure of the border crossings and the severe restrictions imposed on patients seeking lifesaving care. What I witnessed today was beyond anything a human being should ever have to see. I saw patients wishing for death just to escape the unbearable pain tearing through their bodies. Their cries and tears never stopped, while cancer continued to devour them without mercy in a scene that shakes the conscience of humanity. Gaza's healthcare system is experiencing a complete collapse and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. Patients are being deprived of their most basic rights: medicine, treatment, and even pain relief that could ease a fraction of their suffering. We urgently call on the international community to ensure the immediate entry of medicines and essential medical supplies, to open the Rafah crossing without delay, and to allow patients to leave Gaza for lifesaving treatment before it is too late. The lives of thousands of patients and wounded people are at immediate risk. What Israel is doing today by depriving Gaza of the most basic necessities of life and healthcare is nothing less than a grave humanitarian crime unfolding before the eyes of the entire world, while patients are left to face a slow and painful death without medicine, without treatment, and without mercy.
