We had a very interesting talk by Sophie Ellis @Psych_SEllis, from the Institute of Criminology. Sophie was so knowledgeable and made us question so much about prisons and crime, including the fundamental question: what are prisons for? So much food for thought.

Our February talk ties in nicely with Valentine's Day; we're going to hear all about Victorian love letters and how they played a crucial role in courtship and engagement. Telling us all about this will be Cambridge PhD student Maggie Kalenak. Email us if you’re interested!

We’re planning a social get together in August and, to give us a focus, we’ll be having a go at drawing or colouring on the theme of summer. That should leave a hand free for a glass of wine or maybe a cheeky Pimm’s! Get in touch if you’re not a member and would like to join us.

Yesterday we had our very own Ted talk - Ted von Hippel took us to Mars, Jupiter’s moons and beyond in the search for extraterrestrial life. Mind blowing!
