If Tonali genuinely wants out and we can get him for £40-50m, I'm doing it before I touch Elliot Anderson at £60m+. We've spent too long buying "potential" or "reputation". Tonali is a proven midfielder who fits the system and wants to play. Tonali's Newcastle stint has been cursed. 10-month ban for betting, then injuries, then not quite fitting Howe's 4-3-3. If he's been angling for a move since Jan, he's mentally checked out. That's good for us - unsettled players are cheaper. But also risky, 10 months out for betting. Has he lost a yard? Is his head right? Newcastle fans say he's been inconsistent since returning. He's press-resistant, can receive between lines, and actually scores/goals from midfield. He's 26. Still 5 prime years. He's better on the ball, great progressive passing, can play the 8 or 6. At Milan and Newcastle before his ban he was their metronome. Anderson's valued at £60m+ because he's homegrown, 22, and PL-proven. If Tonali is "cheaper", we're probably talking £40-50m.
