@Cam_Fine I’m not saying JPM is perfect. That wasn’t what I said. But I have never seen evidence — and there is a lot of documentation of the crisis — that they needed the bailout. And, in truth, most of the fines related to problems at firms like Bear Stearns before JPM bought them.

Fact check: This is misleading, if not inaccurate. 1) JPM took a $25B loan from Treasury because the govt insisted; it didn’t want it + paid it back. The Senator then conflates $391B of loans from Federal Reserve as taxpayer money, which it traditionally would not be considered.

@BankPres @robblackwellAB Amen! My bank bought the fancy electronic scoreboards at the football stadium and in the basketball gym. We also got them new uniforms. And yes, I coached the little league team for a couple of years. We purchased the score boards after the local branch of the mega bank refused.

Yet this dying bank was able to pledge 1/6 of its assets to the @FHLBC who now stands in front of the @FDICgov /taxpayer in getting repaid once the bank fails.

Looks like Metropolitan Capital was wrestling some bad C&I loans for over a year along with AOCI issues. Provisions brought total capital sub 8% in 2024, so supervisors should have been watching these guys.
