Starting Wednesday, February 4, Cambridge DPW will begin removing all space savers placed in public parking spaces. Space savers are not permitted in the public way. If you want to keep your item, please remove it by Wednesday.

🗑️🧟‍♂️Our waterways don’t need a fright – pick up your trash tonight! Trash creeps into storm drains and pollutes our waterways. Picking up litter keeps our streets and rivers clean.

🧪🧙‍♀️Storm drains aren’t for potions! Dumping any material — even seemingly harmless liquids — down storm drains is illegal and can cast a spell of pollution on our rivers and streams. Remember: Only rain goes down the drain!

💩💀 Pet waste on the sidewalk — the horror! Picking up after your pet helps keep our rivers clean and prevents frightful bacteria from entering storm drains.

🍂👻 Don’t let leaves haunt our storm drains! Rake up leaves and dispose as yard waste before they turn into a stormwater nightmare. Leaves left on pavement can create a frightening mess — when it rains, they wash into storm drains and pollute our rivers.

🚗🧹It’s spooky season, but your car won’t move itself for street cleaning. Moving your car on sweeping day helps our sweepers reach the curb and banish the dirt, leaves, and litter lurking on our streets. Clean curbs mean cleaner stormwater and that’s nothing to be afraid of!

Be kind — don't leave poop behind! Regularly scooping your dog's poop from public areas and your backyard prevents the poop from washing into our waterways when it rains.

When it comes to salt, a little goes a long way! Rock salt (sodium chloride) is particularly harmful to plants and wildlife and should be avoided. Likewise, don’t use sand, which can actually make ice more slippery and clogs storm drains.
