I’ve seen a few comments frustrated about the cosplayer/fan artist call out here. So I wanted to address it head on. It’s not that Riot doesn’t want to work with cosplayers or artists! There are just some limitations we have to consider for them that are different than other types of content creators. We are still looking at what we can do to support artists, weather that be a program, or other tools. Outside of my partner programs work, I also am the Influencer lead for Riot’s commercial partnerships/merch team, where we have been doing a lot of exploring here. First experiments here have looked like artist alley support at our events, or other non riot events like EVO and Twitchcon. Riot has been giving licenses to artists to officially use our IP and sell things with our IP. We are hoping to use these and other experiments to better understand how we can support artists in ways that actually helps their content. We believe they need different support from Riot, and that needs to be done right. It’s for sure frustrating it’s not on the same timeline. I’m personally very passionate about finding a solution for this, as I started my career focused on cosplayers (who also have these limitations) so it’s something I really want to get right. ❤️❤️ Hopefully this helps explain a bit!
