Three pro-democracy activists currently on trial in Hong Kong, Chow Hang-tung, Lee Cheuk-yan, and Albert Ho, who led Tiananmen Square vigils, are accused of inciting subversion.

History will remember many things about this moment. But one truth will remain: Authoritarian systems can erase vigils. They can dismantle organizations. They can imprison activists. But they cannot imprison memory.

Inside the courtroom, the argument is almost surreal: Is calling for an end to one-party rule a crime? When political ideas become criminal evidence, something deeper has already been lost.

Two courageous people are on trial in Hong Kong today. A labor leader. A human rights lawyer. Their names are Lee Cheuk-yan and Chow Hang-tung. Their crime: refusing to let history disappear.
