Big milestone reached - over $1,000,000 in my TFSA account It’s a Canadian tax free account, the cumulative maximum contribution is $102,000 and all gains are tax free. The Canadian Tax Agency monitors accounts and out of 17.8M accounts about 350 have balances over $1M That puts me in the top 0.002% of TFSA investors!

My coworker has a 1.99% mortgage.
That is something you should NEVER pay off early.
Inflation is at least 3%/yr.
Why would anyone pay that off aggressively?

My property taxes are nuts (>$60k)
Why should two families using the same roads, schools, and services pay wildly different property taxes just because one house is worth more?

My biggest holding $COST raised their dividend 13.1%. That’s $97.02 quarterly, almost up to $100 dividend (not that I’m in it for the dividend).

I’ve paid $107,000 towards my mortgage since I bought my house in 2020.
My principal has gone down by only $27,000.

Arguments people love to have that I find increasingly useless: rent vs. buy; own stocks vs. real estate; investing vs. debt repayment; TFSA vs. RRSP; dividends or not. Set realistic goals, treat people well, and avoid being dragged into useless online debates.
