Why are more researchers choosing Plasmax™ cell culture medium? Dr. Sunada Khadka, a former researcher at @MDAndersonNews discovered that using traditional media like DMEM can significantly inflate in vitro drug efficacy. In her research on ENO1-deleted glioma cells, Sunada initially observed strong in vitro drug responses in DMEM, showing notable efficacy and synergy between HEX and CB-839 inhibitors. However, these effects were significantly reduced in vivo, raising concerns with traditional culture media. The turning point? Using Plasmax™ 🔍 With Plasmax™, Sunada uncovered: ➤ Reduced CB-839 toxicity in glioma cells under physiological conditions ➤ Loss of in vitro CB-839 & HEX synergy (previously observed in DMEM) ➤ Evidence that DMEM inflated in vitro drug performance This case study underscores the importance of media choice in preclinical cancer research. Plasmax™ better replicates the in vivo tumour metabolic environment than traditional media, like DMEM. This supports the generation of more reliable and translatable drug response data. 🚨 NEW PRODUCT ALERT 🚨 We're excited to share that the CRUK Lung Cancer Centre of Excellence at UCL has deposited 44 groundbreaking #TRACERx non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) PDX models with @CancerToolsOrg - cancertools.org/pdx-models/?_c… Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths, with intratumor heterogeneity posing a significant challenge to treatment. Patient-Derived Xenograft (PDX) models offer several key advantages over traditional models, including: ✅ Higher translatability due to better recapitulation of source patient intratumor heterogeneity and drug responses ✅ Increased accuracy for disease modelling and preclinical in vivo studies Our new NSCLC PDX models, developed from multiple regions of primary tumours from Lung #TRACERx study patients, were created by Dr Robert Hynds and David Pearce at the @uclcancer Read the full launch announcement to learn more about these new #TRACERx NSCLC PDX models.
