It’s literally never too late to add masking back into your routine! You don’t have to be perfect at it because any masking you do is potentially breaking a chain of exposure for you or the people around you, and sometimes is better than never!

I quit masking a few years ago, bc most people had & I was worried about comments in public tbh (which I’ve yet to receive) I started this year, & honestly, it’s just nice not get sick? I didn’t realize how much I got the cold and flu before masking. It’s so nice!

Dare I say one of my biggest Romance genre annoyances is the forcing of nicknames. MC will break their ankle in chapter 2 and the other one will call make a love confession in the epilogue like "It's always been you, Ankle Breaker."

@melissaskings It still reads as blonde to me, esp as someone who grew up blonder and it gets browner over time, it might be a choice to make her more visually similar to Becca who has pretty dark brown hair. And shows a choice that Mel could get highlights to be blonder, but doesn’t.

@OctopusSoap Yes! There was so much opportunity for her to be someone who reflects so much of what Robby is running from/having difficulty accepting and how being confronted with that while already being on his own ledge would make him react badly. But it just felt so gross and targeted.

@CandiedCae Yep and in my original thread I said that there was great potential there for her situation as a foil to his. Her openness about it, working on her health, in contrast to his deep denial.
But they didn’t take it there, so now she’s just another woman who can’t handle the ER.

ok so now that we know how it resolves I am not impressed with this arc. At best it feels micro aggressive and at worst, racist.

something about Al-Hashimi’s arc is weird to me because they brought in a WOC for the main white man to be suspicious of, he doubts her ability, and then it turns out he was RIGHT to doubt her because she hid a disability that may interfere with her ability to work? hmm.
