Ryan Silverfield to @On3 on resetting the standard at Arkansas: “The bigger question is: Why hasn’t there been success? It’s easy to just say it’s coaching. Well, they haven’t won games in a long time, so it must be coaching. Come on. There have been some great coaches here. I give Sam Pittman credit. Bret Bielema did some things.

@Candy_Darr @LaloisPalo @PeteNakos @On3 You don't want your property value to take a hit due to the program being moved to a more sensible location. You don't care if Arkansas sucks years after year.
English

@itsBrettG @LaloisPalo @PeteNakos @On3 As I said. I don't have time, but you can start with Indiana. If you really cared about truth and accuracy and facts, you'd look it up yourself. Wouldn't take you very long to learn that you are wrong.
English

@itsBrettG @LaloisPalo @PeteNakos @On3 Your point seems to be that good black players won't attend a university in an area that doesn't have a large black population. Shall we list the dozens of successful programs that prove you wrong? I would but I don't have the time it would take to type out the list.
English

@itsBrettG @LaloisPalo @PeteNakos @On3 Not mad at all. Lifelong Hog fan who simply lives by facts instead of insinuations.
English

@LaloisPalo @Candy_Darr @PeteNakos @On3 You are just mad because I am right and you have some sort of vested interest in NWA. I don't so I can be objective about the problem.
English

@itsBrettG @LaloisPalo @PeteNakos @On3 That 10% is the black population of the entire state of Indiana, including Indianapolis which is an hour away from the IU campus. Fayetteville is 8%, Arkansas is about 15%.
English

@Candy_Darr @LaloisPalo @PeteNakos @On3 Indianapolis alone has fifty times more blacks than the Ozarks.
English

@itsBrettG @LaloisPalo @PeteNakos @On3 Have you been to Indiana? National champs. No problems recruiting black players. 10% black population (vs. 8% in Fayetteville).
English

@LaloisPalo @Candy_Darr @PeteNakos @On3 You have clearly never been to Mississippi. It is blacker than Nigeria. Northern Arkansas is whiter than Norway. That is not helpful when it comes to football recruiting.
English

@Candy_Darr @PeteNakos @On3 That is not nearly enough dumbass. There is like three million within a 50 mile radius of Baton Rouge and Oxford.
English

@itsBrettG @PeteNakos @On3 ??? The 8,000 or so black people who live in Fayetteville year-round would beg to differ, let alone black college students who spend most of each year there.
English

@PeteNakos @On3 No black people live within 500 miles of Fayetteville. That is not true of any other SEC program. The program should be moved to Little Rock.

@TalkinYanks Wish I'd been the one to come up with 'Gavel and Grain." Here are a few other options:
- Hammer and Harvest
- The Bench and the Bushel
- The Law and the Land

@Fenchak4Trustee @Coach_Hickey5 2/2 ... that gives them a better life going forward if they use it wisely. For others, it's a chance to get a college degree free of charge. Those options transform lives. People who treat it like a short-term job and go job-hopping just to get more are what he despises.
English

"When this becomes TRANSACTIONAL, I'm outta here" John Calipari.
In 15 years at UK, most of the kids he recruited were one-and done.
Less than 20% of the guys he recruited stuck around "college" for more than 2 years.
Almost none - maybe 0 (but there may be one or two) -of the kids he recruited to Kentucky ever graduated from UK.
And Calipari is the norm, not the outlier.
But NOW? Now? Now that he isn't the only one getting rich, it is "transactional?
Sell that BS to some other sucker.
English

@Fenchak4Trustee @Coach_Hickey5 1/2 I think you have a different definition of 'transactional' than Calipari does. He wants kids to use basketball to transform their lives. For some, it will be one-and-done, go pro, make generational wealth for their families. For others, it will be getting NIL in college ....
