Junior season highlights

The Canes have completed another winning season and the program 20 year record stands at 406-176 (20.3 wins per year) with twelve 20 win seasons and eight regional finals or further.

Host Fleming Island defeats GHS in the regional quarterfinal. Junior guard @Ihoopwillie5 led all scorers with 22 points. GHS 19 6 16 6 - 47 FIHS 18 17 18 22 - 75

The Canes will visit region top seed Fleming Island on Saturday at 7:00 pm. Of the 25 games GHS has played thus far vs. in-state opponents, 21 were against teams that qualified for the FHSAA State Championships. GHS played 11 games (44%) against teams in FHSAA overall Top 100.

The Canes are in the dance! GHS has received an at-large bid to the 5A Region 1 tournament. This marks the 16th time in the past 20 years that GHS has qualified for the state playoffs!

Scoring leaders for the Canes tonight were @CraigThomasjr with 15 - and @Aj_hall1 and @Ihoopwillie5 each had 12. GHS, currently 7th in region in MaxPreps, with two wins against overall top 75 teams since last FHSAA ranking, will await a possible at-large bid.

IT’S DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP DAY FOR CANES HOOPS! GHS will visit Tallahassee Leon tonight at 7:00pm to go for their 4th straight district title.

We congratulate the Lady Canes on winning the District Championship with a 58-48 win over Tallahassee Lincoln making it back-to-back titles!

Leading the way offensively for GHS in the win tonight was @Ihoopwillie5 with 24 points including five from beyond the arc. @Aj_hall1 and @CraigThomasjr added 7 apiece and @Kylepinter11 and Aiden Raney each had 6.

CORRECTION: GHS will be going for their 4th straight district title. Saturday’s matchup at Leon will feature the 3 seed vs. 4 seed. It is the only 5A Region 1 district where the top 2 seeds did not advance to the final.

In Tallahassee: GHS has defeated Lincoln (who entered the game with a record of 20-1) in the 5A-2 semifinals by a score of 52-47. Canes have now won 9 of last 10 and head to Leon HS on Saturday for the championship game. GHS will be going for their 3rd straight title.

The top seed Lady Canes have advanced to Friday’s district championship game with a 55-38 win over Chiles (Tallahassee). They will host Lincoln (Tallahassee) at The Purple Palace on Friday at 7:00 to try and make it back-to-back titles.
