As we commemorate National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we’re encouraged to come together to support healing and to find ways to move forward on past difficulties. The truth is about taking the time to understand past and present Indigenous Peoples’ experiences and the intergenerational impact of residential schools. It is also about supporting action and reconciliation as we chart a strong path forward. May is Military Appreciation Month which honors current and former members of the US Military. Meet Cameron Kern, Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic based in DeRidder, Louisiana! As a mechanic in wood products manufacturing, he helps to ensure safe operations at our facility. Prior to joining Canfor, Cameron served four years in the US Marine Corps. In Season 2’s episode 3 of @ForestryFTF "Canadian Forestry Can Save The World" Podcast, Ben Goodier, Head of Bio-Innovation & Tech at Canfor shares how his team is innovating our business to reduce waste and generate greater value from wood residuals. Currently the bio-innovation team is exploring different ways to convert wood residuals into new bioproducts. This includes close collaboration with our Joint Venture, Arbios, which is currently building a first of kind plant converting wood residues into biofuel.
