Last week, State Rep @RanjeevPuri stopped by CPL to present Library Director Eva Davis with a certificate from the State of Michigan, celebrating our recognition as a 2024 Top Workplace. We’re so thankful for this honor and proud to be a place where our team can grow and thrive.

Some of the expected impacts to CPL include the loss of: • Interlibrary loan through MeLCat • MeL research databases • Popular MAP program—Canton residents checked out nearly 700 passes in 2024. • Reduced efficiencies, buying power, and rate negotiating with vendors. 2/3

A recent executive order calls for cuts to the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the federal agency that helps fund libraries nationwide. This would result in an indirect loss of funding to CPL through the Library of Michigan, which provides services to MI libraries. 1/3

On Monday, January 20, the Canton Public Library will be open during regular hours. We remain open each year on MLK Day to honor Dr. King’s legacy and his fight for equal access to institutions like public libraries, ensuring that everyone can benefit from library resources.

Our newly renovated Co-Lab is officially open! Located at the back of the library near the Secondhand Prose Used Bookstore, it’s a collaborative, flexible space perfect for small groups to meet, study, or socialize. Next time you’re in the library, come check it out.
