#HappyBirthday to artist Cecilia Beaux (1855–1942)! Beaux is one of most accomplished and widely regarded artists to work on Cape Ann at the turn of the 19th century.  Her home and studio called “Green Alley” was on the outskirts of Eastern Point.

#HappyBirthday to artist Emma Fordyce MacRae (1887–1974)! MacRae was a versatile artist creating still lifes, portraits, landscapes and combinations of the three genres. Emma MacRae came to Gloucester in the 1910s and was an active member of the Cape Ann art colony for 50 years.

Conservation continues at the Babson-Alling House! Conservator Christine Thomson, who specializes in furniture and decorative surfaces, has been working on a paint analysis project at the Cape Ann Museum’s historic property at CAM Green, the Babson-Alling House (c. 1740).

On the evening of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere embarked on his famous “midnight ride.” Did you know that besides his horseback riding skills, Paul Revere was a talented silversmith? CAM’s collection includes a christening basin & beakers made by Revere that date back to 1762.
