I’ve supported Manchester United since high school. One thing football has taught me is this. Most goals are not caused by one mistake. They are caused by small moments where everyone assumed someone else would act. I see the same pattern in engineering teams. Code gets “hospital passed” to QA. Releases go out knowing they are not ready. Then we ask who should have caught it. Accountability is not about blame. It is about owning the outcome. I shared a few thoughts on what United taught me about accountability in software teams. #Leadership #EngineeringManagement #SoftwareEngineering #Accountability #TeamCulture #TechLeadership @jsteyn/accountability-is-a-team-sport-decd890dbbbc" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@jsteyn/accoun…

CVE-2026-44578  ⚠️ Next.js – WebSocket Upgrade SSRF (CVSS 8.6)  A server-side request forgery vulnerability in Next.js allows unauthenticated attackers to force self-hosted instances to make internal HTTP requests via the WebSocket upgrade handler.  By sending a crafted absolute-form HTTP request with Upgrade: websocket headers, attackers can access internal services, cloud metadata endpoints, admin panels, and internal APIs reachable from the Next.js server on port 80. Successful exploitation may expose cloud credentials, API keys, secrets, and configuration data.  Affected: Next.js 13.4.13+, 14.x, 15.x <15.5.16, 16.0.0–16.2.4  Mitigation: Upgrade immediately to 15.5.16 or 16.2.5.   Modat Magnify Query:  technology="Next.js"  The platform:  magnify.modat.io  #threatintel #vulnerability #CVE202644578 #Nextjs #SSRF #WebSocket #CloudSecurity #infosec #Critical #ModatMagnify

The crypto market structure bill has PASSED the Senate Banking Committee with a bi-partisan vote! Historic day for crypto and for the future of digital assets in America. Grateful for the countless hours from lawmakers and staff to strengthen this legislation. Big improvement from where we were in January on rewards, tokenization, DeFi, and CFTC authority. I'm proud we stood up for our customers in that moment, and the bill is better because of it. Looking forward to a bipartisan law that cements the US as the world's crypto capital. Let's get CLARITY done.

VERCEL GOT HACKED ShinyHunters - the group behind the Ticketmaster breach - is selling Vercel's internal database for $2M on BreachForums here's why every developer should care: - they have NPM tokens and GitHub tokens - Vercel owns Next.js - 6 million weekly downloads - one malicious push = global supply chain attack - Vercel confirmed the breach today, April 19 - they literally DMed the hackers on Telegram asking them to stop rotate your env variables RIGHT NOW

This 2-hour Stanford lecture breaks down how models like ChatGPT and Claude are actually built, clearer than what many people in top AI roles ever get exposed to. Save this and set aside two hours today. It might end up being the most valuable thing you learn all week.

@JohnDoe_ZAR exactly then they pat themselves on the back as if this is a good thing. They cripple the tax payer base and spend it on things we didn't approve. They need to scrap PAYE. watch the economy and peoples happiness grow .. they will still make money on variable VAT.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth about this 2.01 trillion collected by SARS That money didn’t come from thin air, it came from citizens who are already under pressure, people paying income tax, VAT on almost everything they buy, fuel levies, and small businesses trying to survive in a tough economy When politicians celebrate big tax collections like this, some of them look like clowns because they are cheering a number without acknowledging the pain behind it Many South Africans are dealing with unemployment, rising food prices, expensive fuel, and slow economic growth Higher tax collection often means people are paying more, not necessarily that the economy is thriving If people were earning more, if businesses were booming, if unemployment was dropping, then it would make sense to celebrate because it would reflect real growth But right now, it feels like the burden is increasing while service delivery, infrastructure, and accountability are not improving at the same pace So the frustration is not about the number itself. It is about what people are getting in return

[BREAKING NEWS] SARS revenue collection hits R2.01 trillion in 2025/2026. It's up 8.4% - thanks to stronger compliance. #Newzroom405

SA GOVERNMENT TO REGULATE Ai Cabinet has approved the draft national Ai policy for public comment, marking a step towards formal regulation of artificial intelligence in South Africa. The policy aims to balance the benefits and risks of Ai while promoting inclusive growth, job creation and wider access to skills. It focuses on six pillars, including governance, ethical use, talent development and human-centred deployment. Government intends to strengthen its ability to adopt and regulate Ai responsibly while supporting innovation. A phased approach will be followed, recognising that Ai risks and applications differ across sectors and require tailored oversight as adoption expands. it makes me sad seeing so many people responding to posts with AI responses. The same tone, same messages, different format. You don't do anyone justice, you arent winning favours, you just bring your own credibility into dispute. Controversial take but I feel social media has eroded society. What is AI doing ...

if you are a creative agency, dev shop, Web3 builder. This one is for you. Please help me with some research 🙏🙏
Jay@CapeTownCTO

I’m conducting academic research into why proposal conversations in digital services fail to convert into signed work. While my aim is to target Web3 in particular, given its nature, this is not exclusively a Web3 concern and invites participation from all walks of life. It’s about understanding structural factors like affordability, currency exposure, AI-driven expectations, engagement design, and margin pressure. If you run an agency or consultancy that builds for clients, please complete this short 2–3 minute survey: forms.gle/pAyH8X17UTTMMy… If you are a business that seeks or uses agencies/consultancies: forms.gle/hTX1xASaAM1aBS… Your input is complete anomymised. I only have until Wednesday to complete this phase of the research. Please share with your networks as well. Thank you in advance for contributing to something I believe is affecting many of us across the ecosystem.
