We’re pleased to announce that Capitalism Lab post‑release beta version 12.0.00 is now available for download at: capitalism2.com/forum/viewtopi… New Feature: Import Your Own Custom Regional Maps City Economic Simulation DLC now supports importing custom regional maps, enabling players to create and load personalized terrains into the game. This feature allows for the design of maps inspired by real-world regions, such as a detailed Europe layout with varied elevations and coastlines, or entirely original landscapes. It enhances gameplay by providing greater control over terrain generation, supporting mod integration through scripting for city locations. To implement a custom map, users can download the free Height Map Editor (HME) from hme.sourceforge.net and create a 1200×900 pixel height map, optionally starting from a BMP image. Save the file as .HME, place it in the game's MAPS folder (accessible via the Generate Regional Map menu), and load it in Capitalism Lab to generate the terrain. A sample Europe map with a city placement script is available for download to demonstrate the process. Full instructions are provided in the guide at capitalismlab.com/importing-cust….

Billionaire Life DLC Feature Preview: Playing Without a Company Traditionally in Capitalism Lab, you are your company — lose it and it's game over. The upcoming Billionaire Life DLC separates the two: your personal fortune (cash, shares, bonds, mansion, art) belongs to you, not the business. Losing a company is now a setback, not the end. Please check out this web page for the full details: capitalismlab.com/playing-withou… Lose the company, keep the empire in you You keep all your personal wealth and keep playing as an individual — investing, trading shares, living the billionaire life. When ready, found a new company and start over. The only thing you can't do without a company is win a company-based goal. While company-less, the top cash readout shows your personal cash. The settings (New Game → Billionaire Life DLC → Career tab) Continue After Hostile Takeover (default Yes) — a takeover no longer ends the game. Retain CEO Role After Takeover (Yes) — stay on as CEO under the new owner for a salary. Continue After Bankruptcy (Yes) — bankruptcy no longer ends the game (company still liquidated). Bankruptcy With Continue After Bankruptcy on, the company is liquidated to pay debts but you keep your personal wealth and continue as an individual. Hostile takeover A rival buys over 50% of your shares and seizes control. With Continue After Hostile Takeover on, the company keeps running as a computer-controlled firm, you keep all your personal wealth, and you can found a new company anytime. With Retain CEO Role on, you stay on as CEO for a market-rate salary. But you serve at the new chairman's pleasure: perform well or have a chairman who respects you and you keep the job; poor results plus a hostile chairman means trouble. You always get one clear warning and at least one full review cycle to turn things around — or you can Resign on your own terms. Aggressive owners review sooner; cautious ones give more slack. Winning the company back Control belongs to whoever holds more than 50%. If no one does, control falls to the Chief Executive — you. So if the rival sells their stake below 50% (or you keep buying shares from your personal fortune), the chairmanship passes back and it's your company again — you become owner, not employee. The Shareholders page shows how close the majority is to slipping. Founding a new company Open Financial Actions → Set Up a New Company. Choose colour, logo, name, and initial capital. It's funded from your personal cash, you own 100% as a private company (no takeover risk until you IPO), and you can go public later. Then you're chairman and CEO again. Down but never out Losing a company used to end the session outright, making the late game brittle. Treating the player as a person rather than a company turns that moment into a comeback arc — and makes the wealth you hold outside the company a genuine strategic lifeboat. Read the full guide at capitalismlab.com/playing-withou… Let us know what you think.

Billionaire Life DLC (Upcoming): Fine Art System Preview We're excited to announce Fine Art, a new feature for the upcoming Billionaire Life DLC. Real-world masterpieces now become a living market inside Capitalism Lab — you can collect them, trade them for profit, and donate a great collection to your own museum to build your standing as a generous, cultured billionaire. Please check out this web page for the full details: capitalismlab.com/fine-art/ What is Fine Art? Famous paintings become a personal asset class. Works by real artists — grouped into movements like Impressionism and Cubism — rise and fall in value over the years. Follow each painting's, artist's, and movement's price history and trend, buy low, and hold until it appreciates. A serious collection can be resold for profit or gifted to the public for lasting prestige. Note: art is bought and sold with your personal cash, not your company's money. Three ways to engage with the art world • Art Gallery — the main marketplace where you browse, buy, reprice, and resell paintings. You must own a gallery before you can buy anything; every purchase is delivered into it. • Auction House — bid against wealthy AI collectors on individual sought-after works, roughly once a month. Every new bid extends the deadline, so hot pieces can run well past the countdown. • Art Museum — a prestige showcase for the art you donate. It doesn't trade art; it exhibits works and draws visitors. Donate for Prestige Donating a painting adds its value to your Personal Philanthropy, permanently raising your influence and lifestyle satisfaction. The tip: let a piece appreciate first, then donate — a more valuable painting earns you more standing. Concentrate donations on one artist or movement and set your museum's focus to match for a far higher rating. Please feel free to share your thoughts about this new system here on Facebook or on the Capitalism Lab forum at capitalism2.com/forum/viewtopi….

Introducing Industrial Genesis MOD This mod’s goal is to make the economy feel closer to real industry: products don’t get better just because you keep researching the product itself, instead they get better because you develop the underlying technologies, processes, and materials know-how that make improvement possible. The result is a game that’s challenging, more strategic, and a lot more satisfying when your company finally pulls ahead. What Industrial Genesis changes (the idea, not just the content) 1) R&D becomes capability-driven, not grind-driven Instead of “Research product = better product,” your progress depends on researching technologies for said product, which unlocks the product for manufacturing and improvements. That means: [*] You can’t brute-force your way into every market early by just placing a R&D down, selecting a product and leaving it there to research. [*] Specializing in certain products like Computers is advantageous since technologies required stay within a category and some are shared between the products in the same category. If you want to create other products, you'll have to research complete new technologies. 2) Realistic(ish) pricing and profitability — in both B2B and B2C Industrial Genesis aims to keep prices grounded and margins believable: B2B: components and inputs must be profitable without making final goods trivial. B2C: consumer products still have room for brand/quality strategy and competitive pricing. 3) Manufacturing inputs are being rebuilt to reflect reality Products are increasingly tied to materials that make sense (and materials that actually impact quality). That makes: [*] sourcing decisions meaningful, since materials will also require specializing in certain technologies to be better at making them. [*] vertical integration more interesting. What’s included right now (v1.0.0) This first release establishes the foundation: [*] New vehicles [*] New electronics [*] A new category: Computer Parts [*] Some technologies have been created, not all new items added/Vanilla items require a technology be researched. Mainly the new Category and new Semi product would be the only one with this feature as of now. Download the Mod from: capitalism2.com/forum/viewtopi…

New Feature: Farm Equipment in Capitalism Lab post-release beta version 12 Farm Equipmentis a major new feature in the Experimental DLC, designed to introduce greater realism and strategic depth to agricultural management. In the base game, product quality is driven entirely by training and leveling up farming units. With the Farm Equipment system enabled, these bonuses are intentionally reduced, making specialized farm equipment essential for achieving higher productivity and premium‑quality outputs. The system also opens up lucrative B2B manufacturing opportunities. Companies can build their own farm equipment factories to supply the market or support their own farms. For large agricultural operations, vertically integrating into equipment production becomes a powerful strategic advantage, allowing you to capture profits internally and strengthen your position across the entire farming supply chain. 👉 See the full details of the Farm Equipment feature: capitalismlab.com/farm-equipment/ 👉Download post-release beta version 12.0.55 now from capitalism2.com/forum/viewtopi…

🛠 Capitalism Lab 12.0.51 – Manufacturer Guide Enhancements The latest update introduces a redesigned Manufacturer Guide, featuring a cleaner and more modern interface to make production planning easier to understand at a glance. A new visual indicator has also been added: output products now display an icon when they can be used as inputs for other consumer products. This helps players quickly identify downstream production opportunities without needing to cross-reference multiple screens. For example, in the Real World Mod, Shampoo is an input for producing Hotel Bed Places. With this update, an icon now appears directly on the Shampoo image to highlight this linkage. 👉Download post-release beta version 12.0.51 now from capitalism2.com/forum/viewtopi…

Starting with Capitalism Lab version 12.0, a new option—“High‑priced Products”—has been added under the Experimental tab in the new‑game settings menu. Normally, a manufacturing unit does not spend more than one day producing a product. When this option is enabled, products with a base price of $20,000 or higher in the game dataset or in mods, such as electric cars, will require a manufacturing unit to spend more than one day producing a single unit. When a high‑priced product requires multiple in‑game days to manufacture a single unit, the manufacturing unit will now show a progress bar within the 3×3 area to indicate production progress.
