We secured the U.S. Capitol for the King Charles III address to a Joint Meeting of Congress. We are grateful for our local & federal partners for their close coordination and partnership during this historic visit. Thank you!

The Members of Congress who attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner are safe and secure. We are assisting our federal and local partners with anything they need.

On Thursday 4/16 at approximately 10:45 pm, MPD responded to the discharge of a firearm in the 1000 block of 2nd Street, SE. A single shot was fired. There were no injuries or damage to property. Members of @CapitolPolice, already in the area, assisted our response.

K9 Pete (first pic) won K9 of the year at our Employee Recognition Ceremony. Unfortunately, Pete couldn't attend due to an off-site training exercise, so K9 Forrest accepted on Pete's behalf. We figured they would find a large tennis ball far more appealing than a trophy!
