Swiss neutrality is strict law, not just symbolic.
Key rules of Swiss Neutrality Law:
• 🕊️ Permanent neutrality since 1815 (post-Napoleonic Wars recognition)
• ⚖️ Based on the 1907 Hague Conventions, which define what neutral states can and cannot do
• 🚫 No military alliances (e.g., no NATO)
• 🚫 No foreign troops or combat ops in/through Swiss territory or airspace
• 🚫 No favoring one side in a conflict
If U.S.–Israel–Iran situation counts as “war” under neutrality law:
• ✈️ U.S. military aircraft barred from Swiss airspace
• 🚛 No use of Swiss territory for logistics/transport
• 🪖 No military aid to any party
Humanitarian aid & diplomacy are still allowed—hence the Geneva peace talks.
