@MamonoGang I agree it's a weird shift, but in my (VERY short) experience in modding the actual number is not important- so long as a mod isnt affected by just a code change in an update, you can theoretically just change your mod's version number and it'll be A-OK! (But yea, it's weird lol)

@CaptainBuckeTTV They themselves kinda screwed themselves up though, they wanted to go for the more frequent game drop model. Version numbers are relevant for modding and such, its weird seeing the shift for stuff like that.

Snekposter sees people yap about Minecraft every other week. Old vs new and all that, but what is legitimately gross to me is they have changed how the versions are numbered. We went from 1.21.11 to 26.1. Why was specifying the year important? It's very jarring...

@MamonoGang Each update is still officially named, like "Tiny Takeover" or "Caves and Cliffs", it's just the audience's choice to use the version numbers instead. [3/3]

@MamonoGang Plus it takes pressure off the devs to try and decide whether each update is worth a big number change (e.g. 1.21 to 1.22) or a smaller number change, and also alleviate pressure to balance the small updates with the big ones. [2/3 oops]
