@CaptainHarrie it doesnt have any rpg mechanics though so everyones just kinda doing the same thing... like one reply said its more like a larp but even then theres some more variety, like theres no wizard or rogue archetype in minecraft so its all just armor and sword guy who sometimes bow

minecraft rp is literally just tabletop roleplay but the system is minecraft. like not even a hint of flippancy here mcrp is Literally just a form of ttrpg & one that makes it easy to record individual perspectives with a built in 1st person view for each player. which is neat 🥔

@triiiquery fair enough, I also don't really agree with you beyond that I could have worded things better but I don't feel strongly enough to want to really continue discussing it further

@CaptainHarrie I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm trying to point out the Way you're describing these concepts doesn't hold up to examination. It's OK to express things poorly, I'm just saying A) I disagree with the things you're Actually Saying B) consider taking more time when you're writing

@CaptainHarrie Yes, an RPG (Roleplaying Game) is not the same as RP. Listen, I'm sure that when you take the time to think and express your beliefs, that's what you're trying to say. But what you Actually Said was different than that.

@triiiquery Ultimately it's not a particularly serious tweet, I'm just saying that MCRP is in the same space as TTRPG and LARP and a form of the same thing, and I said TTRPG specifically of the two because it's more familiar to a wider audience.

@triiiquery Like there is a definite difference between an RPG (final fantasy, wizardry, world of warcraft) which is playing a video game that puts you in a role to play, and TTRPGs and LARP, which fascilitates storytelling via interacting with a system through roleplay. MCRP is the latter

@triiiquery We I think have different definitions of what makes TTRPG what it is though, for me it is a method of storytelling created via engaging with a system through roleplay, which is what I'm arguing is going on with MCRP

@triiiquery I more specifically consider MCRP to be an intersection of TTRPG and LARP in a virtual space, it is more gameified like many TTRPGs are than LARP, but it is more physical like LARP is than TTRPGs are. It's neither one nor the other but it should be understood as in the same space

@TBestig certainly, but I'm saying this is what any lore based mcrp server is not one that broadcasts it—that minecraft is just a system. Framing it this way helps explain it to people who don't understand the appeal
