My issue with IPAs, aside from the whole cult around them causing bars to carry nothing but IPAs is that it turned into a pissing contest to hit the highest IBUs (bitterness index), thus just making shitty, bitter beer instead of well crafted, balanced beers.

One of the weirdest things is how dudes who drink weak watery beer try to deride guys who drink IPAs as if real beer is somehow girly. The derision should be going the other way here. It’s like someone drinking Smirnoff Ice while making fun of the guy with the glass of Woodford.
