Almighty and eternal God, who made St. Christopher Magallanes and his companions faithful to Christ the King even to the point of martyrdom, grant us, through their intercession, that, persevering in true faith, we may always hold fast to the commandments of your love (Collect).

Loving Mother Mary, we entrust to your care the poor and vulnerable. Help us to remember them in times of crisis, to pray for them and to help them any way we can. Help us stay close to each other, confident that God’s love keeps us strong.

“O God, who gave the Priest Saint Bernardine of Siena a great love for the Holy Name of Jesus, grant, through his merits and prayers, that we may ever be set aflame with the spirit of your love” (Collect). St. Bernardine, pray for us.

Queen of Peace, intercede for us during these troubled times. Help us to learn to dialogue, forgive one another and always seek nonviolent solutions to our political problems. Pray for our Holy Father Pope Leo XIV as he gives witness to your Son, the King of Peace.

“The Lord has risen and shone his light upon us. He has redeemed us by his Blood, alleluia” (Antiphon). The light of Christ our Redeemer illumines our darkness. Let us rejoice in him.

Mother of Hope, too many suffer from serious depression and anxiety as a result of illness and the horrors of war. Comfort all who come to you with the assurance of your Son’s healing power and peace.

Jesus said to his disciples: “A little while and you will no longer see me, and again a little while later and you will see me.” Our Redeemer promises us that “while the world rejoices; you will grieve, but your grief will become joy.” (cf. Jn 16:16-20)

Loving Mother Mary, help us to keep your Son’s name holy. May we reverence Him in all that we say and do as faithful missionary disciples of Christ. Teach us to recognize the face of Jesus in all our sisters and brothers everywhere.

On Sunday, May 17, Josue Daniel Betancourt will be ordained a transitional deacon by Auxiliary Bishop Manuel A. Cruz at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Please pray for Deacon Betancourt and all clergy of our Archdiocese that they will grow in holiness and service.

Holy Mary, Solace of Migrants, inspire us to welcome all our sisters and brothers who have been forced to leave their homes for economic, social or political reasons. Teach us to set aside our prejudice and fear. Help us to trust that we can see your Son’s face in every stranger.

Jesus said to his disciples: “Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.” (Jn 16:23–28).

“Queen of heaven, rejoice, alleluia. The Son whom you merited to bear Has risen as he said. Alleluia!” During this Easter season, let us rejoice with our loving Mother.

Later this month, one transitional deacon and eight priests will be ordained at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart to serve in the Archdiocese of Newark. Mary, Health of the Sick, comfort us with your tender love when we are suffering from any illness of mind, body or spirit. Give us hope when we are tempted to despair. Pray for us, Blessed Mother.

“I chose you from the world, to go and bear fruit that will last, says the Lord” (Jn 15:9–17). Jesus has chosen us—by name—to be His witnesses to all nations and peoples.

Mary, Mother of the Lord, teach us to follow your Son as you did. Help us to be faithful missionary disciples who do not hesitate when asked to serve others and sacrifice our own desires to do God’s will.
