I'm a consultant interventionalist, but was a trainee just 18mo ago. I am an educational supervisor (to doctors) and have mentored ANPs & pharmacists to expand their skills. So a cardiology ST8, who has gone through the very highest competition at every stage in their career, at the very culmination of 20 yrs of training, will be clerking patients in MAU, while an ANP being trained intensively is being hailed as a great success story?

What medical specialty are you sometimes envious of? (in a good way) When I watch ophthalmologists or plastic surgeons utterly transform people’s lives with simple operations in parts of the world with little access to healthcare, that must be an incredible feeling.

Yesterday our EP team performed their 1000th Cryo-balloon ablation to treat AF! Cryo-balloon has enabled the team to transform patient pathways, enabling many patients (<75%) to go home the same day and over 50% of patients never needing an inpatient bed

A pay rise in line with inflation for ALL public sector workers would cost around an extra £12-15bn. An annual 1.5% tax on any wealth above £5m would raise £16bn. We can afford to give people a proper pay rise. The Tories' refusal to do so is a political choice.

🚨BREAKING🚨 Thérèse Coffey has announced plans to overhaul emergency care. From October, A&Es must ensure that >90% of patients undergo a “Comprehensive Treatment Plan for Assessment” at the front door. “I want every patient attending A&E to have a CTPA” she told the BBC.
