Read the results of the 2025 National Maternity Experience Survey at yourexperience.ie.

However, some areas saw a decline since 2020, including several aspects of postnatal care, such as feeding support at home and communication with GPs and public health nurses.

Compared to 2020, the 2025 National Maternity Experience Survey showed progress in areas like involvement in care decisions, opportunities to ask questions about the birth and emotional support from healthcare professionals when babies were in the neonatal unit.

The National Maternity Experience Survey results are now live. Women who gave birth in Ireland in February or March 2025 shared their experiences of maternity care in this joint initiative of @HIQA @HSELive and @Roinnslainte. Learn more at yourexperience.ie.

This #WorldBreastfeedingWeek, we’re looking at the impact of the #NationalMaternityExperienceSurvey from 2020. Its feedback led to the development of National Standards for infant feeding and maternity services, providing skilled feeding support to mothers, babies and families.
