At 76, Dr Patar regularly organises free health check-up camps, flood relief operations and various other humanitarian activities. He has also published about 12 books in Assamese covering range of issues apart from writing regularly in noted magazines and newspapers.

Care Luit also presented the Kishori Mohan Das Memorial Social Sector Development Award to Dr. Puniram Patar. Dr Patar is a man of versatile interest, pursuing Social work, Vaishnavism, Cultural research and Literature with equal ease and passion besides treating people.
