What started as a farmer’s market in Henderson, NV became a space for personal conversations about health, family, and research.
For Lorenzo Jr., a Future of Medicine member, that meant bringing his dad to get screened:
“The more you know, the better — and I want to know that he’s doing okay.”

In Philadelphia, voices from New Church Down the Way Ministries reflect on what it means to bring health resources into the community, and to meet people where they are.
“A lot of people kind of shy away from this area, but it’s great to have someone here to do a blood test… People [in our community] don’t have access to these things.” - Sefra Hairston, Future of Medicine member

Clinical research shouldn’t only happen where research has always happened.
It should be closer to where people live, shop, work, and care for their health.
That’s the idea behind the first Clinical Trial Center by Walmart and Care Access locations, opening in Houston and Tyler, Texas, and Dalton, Georgia.
Located at the front of Walmart stores, these centers are designed to make research more practical and approachable: a place for community members to learn about clinical research, receive health screenings, and explore whether participating in a study may be right for them.
Care Access will operate community health screenings and clinical trials at each location, with Walmart Healthcare Research Institute helping expand awareness and access through Walmart’s community presence.
This is what expanding access looks like: research closer to home, built around people’s daily lives, and designed to help medical innovation better reflect the communities it serves.

At the Islamic Center of Claremont, conversations around health and research are grounded in faith and community.
“This body, in the Muslim faith, is an amanah, is a trust. Taking care of yourself is an act of worship.” - Radwan Hafuda, Islamic Center of Claremont

In Whiteland, Indiana, members of the Burmese community are sharing why access to health screenings and research matters, and what it makes possible.
“If I take part in a screening and I can be a candidate for clinical research, it will open a door that’s been closed for a long time… to help participate in improving health care.”
- Dr. Emily Ann Kapunan Andaya, Medical Director of the @MajorHP Cardiometabolic Program.

Hi Daoud,
We recognize the importance of offering the health screening program in as many languages as possible – including Arabic – and Care Access is actively working towards that goal. At this time, however, it is only available in English and Spanish. Participants must be able to fully understand the program benefits and details, including their rights and the potential risks associated with having blood drawn. While we are working to include other languages in our program, English and Spanish are currently the only languages available.
If you have any additional questions or feedback, please feel free to contact us at 351-222-4049 or Feedback@CareAccess.com.

@Care_Access_ @ACCinTouch Your company is discriminating against patients in this event. You don’t allow patients who speak Arabic to participate. What type of “community event for the UNDERSERVED” is this? @ACCinTouch should know about this. What does the @ACCinTouch have to say about this?
