The IDF is currently examining the reliability of the photograph. If this is indeed a real, recent picture, these actions do not align with the IDF's values and the behavior expected of IDF soldiers. The incident will be investigated thoroughly and in depth, and if necessary, steps will be taken in accordance with the findings.

@LighttheFireIAu There are no demons. Have you learnt nothing? There is no god.

Africa is a reservoir of joy and hope for the whole world. Its young people and its poor still dream; they hope still; they do not settle for what already exists. They desire to rise up again, to prepare for great responsibilities, to put themselves on the line personally. The desire for the infinite that dwells in the human heart is a principle of social transformation deeper than any political or cultural program. #ApostolicJourney #Angola

What missionaries called improper clothing was carefully adapted Arctic technology. In 19th-century East Greenland, Inuit women wore a form of underwear known as naatsit, made from strips of seal fur sewn together with sinew from reindeer or whale. These garments were not hidden curiosities. Some were decorated with glass beads attached to seal-skin fringes, showing that utility and appearance were not separate ideas. A well-known example was collected in Ammassalik by Captain C. Ryder during an expedition in 1892 and later entered the National Museum of Denmark. European observers were often startled by how the garment was used indoors. In warm houses, the naatsit might be the only item worn while receiving guests or visiting neighboring families. To outsiders shaped by European dress codes, that seemed scandalous. To the people living there, it was ordinary life. Attempts were made by Danish missionaries in the 18th and 19th centuries to introduce longer linen underwear inside the home. The campaign reportedly achieved little success. Imported modesty had to compete with local experience in one of the harshest climates on earth. The choice of seal skin was practical. Unlike heavier insulating furs such as caribou, seal pelts helped reduce overheating and sweat buildup. In Arctic environments, trapped moisture could become dangerous once it freezes. Comfort and survival were linked. The naatsit shows how often outsiders misunderstand traditional clothing. What looked minimal or strange to visitors was based on generations of testing, climate knowledge, and daily reality. Sometimes the simplest garment carries the most exact science. #drthehistories
