Today, the Reservation bill was put to a vote & all NC MLAs chose to vote against it, crushing the remaining hopes of students of Kashmir. And look at the attitude & feel the words of Omar Abdullah; "Let him press the bill, we will vote against it. We don't have an issue."

Hon'ble MLA Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri became emotional while presenting the reservation bill, highlighting the gravity of the issue. Yet the bill was defeated, with only 4 members supporting it, all from the JKPDP. Not a single member from the JKNC stood with it.

1. Rinku Singh cleared the PCS exam in 2004. 2. In 2009, he exposed a ₹100 crore pension and scholarship scam. 3. For exposing corruption, he was shot 7 times, with 2 bullets hitting his face. 4. He survived, recovered, and went on to become an IAS officer in 2022. 5. Now he has resigned, reportedly because he was denied a field posting. 6. This reflects a broken system where honest officers are sidelined while corrupt ones often get powerful field roles. 7. If the public does not stand with honest officers, integrity will keep being punished and corruption will keep thriving.

The J&K Civil Court (Amendment) Bill 2026 was introduced and passed in the Assembly. While it made minor changes, it formally renamed the Munsiff Court as Civil Judge (Junior). Munsiff, an Arabic term that came to India via Persian, means “justice” or “equity.” Its removal may seem small, but it erases centuries of historical and linguistic legacy. After 5th August, the erosion of history and records was blamed on the LG administration. Now, the same agenda is carried forward by an elected government, under the legitimacy of a mandate. With ours numbers at just 4, who’s opposition isn’t enough in all voting processes to stop such moves. But one can’t help wonder: why erase a word that reflects justice and centuries of legal tradition?

For years, near about 6 lakh students in J&K have completed a 4-year vocational course (Class 9–12) introduced in 2015 under Samagra Shiksha J&K ( @JKSamagra ). The first batch passed out in 2019. Till today, not a single batch has received its vocational certificate. An RTI was filed seeking answers on certification, assessments and funds. Even after 32 days, there is no response. Around Rs 600 per student was allocated for certification. If money was sanctioned but certificates never reached students, this is not just delay — it raises serious questions of corruption. Lakhs of students have been left without proof of skills they spent four years earning. We were told the file lies with the Home Ministry & has been sent back from there, yet it’s the Ministry of Social Justice giving these convenient answers. What exactly is going on? More shocking is this silence from our own elected government. As per the answer on the floor of Parliament, Not a word of concern on the existing draconian reservation policy that is clearly crushing the General category (refer to Q 5061, b&c below) Recruitment after recruitment, lakhs of jobs/admissions slipping away, especially from Kashmiri-speaking youth… and no one seems accountable. This quiet acceptance, this normalisation, feels less like governance and more like complicity. We didn’t elect the govt or the other MLAs for NREGA works, snow clearance, or inaugurating transformers. We elected them to stand for our careers, our future, our aspirations. Those cannot be traded away for a few political conveniences or extra pennies. No sir, this is simply not acceptable.
