Best coach/manager at step 5 by a country mile. Average age of the squad with me in it at 22. Playing football the right way. I wonder what @sykesj1973 thinks of the squad since Xmas. The best squad golcar has EVER had. 😂

𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐇𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐒 💯 Subject to making an appearance this Saturday, Sam Awty will have made the ‘100 Club’. Let’s hope that it’s a great occasion for our forward who has been with us since the moment we started this NCEL journey. Fun fact, Awty actually scored our first NCEL goal back in July 2022 in a 5-0 win against Ollerton Town. ⚽️

𝐃𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 🤝🏽 With the use of technology and the VEO, the equaliser on Saturday will now be credited to Abdou Bojang. The definition of impact, scoring off the bench in successive games. Deserves a start tonight? ❤️

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 ☹️ The club can confirm the departure of striker Jack Leach as he looks in search of regular game time. Leach appeared 42 times last season, netting 10 times, with his superb header away at Harrogate Railway arguably his best. Leaving the club as a champion as well. The club would like to place on record a huge thanks for his contribution in a Horbury shirt and will be keeping an eagle eye on his progress. The gaffa spoke following the news earlier: “Leachy has been a great asset to have at the club, having him a part of both the senior and u23s squad, captaining the latter. I fully appreciate and understand his reasons for looking elsewhere for regular football, something we cannot guarantee here - that goes for every player we have. Hopefully this isn’t the last we see him in a Horbury shirt. A hugely talented player who just needs to hit the ground running at this stage playing every game and doing what he does best”. Leach had the following words also: “The decision to leave the club was not an easy one but I think for me the right one. I feel at this moment in time, I need to go elsewhere and get back to playing regular football week in, week out. I want to say a massive thank you to everyone at the club - the lads, the management, the volunteers and the fans for making my time at Horbury as enjoyable as it has been and for the opportunity I’ve been given. I cannot speak about this club highly enough and I’m sure will see big success in the future. I leave the club with a league title and wouldn’t have wanted it with any other group”. ❤️

✍🏻✍🏻 Welcome the next man joining South Leeds for the new season, Eoin Schofield. Eoin joins us having recently left Horbury Town after spending many years there and is looking to get stuck in and cement himself at South Leeds. 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐚𝐬 ‘𝐀𝐫𝐢 Returning to the Horbury after a year away is Arista Llewellyn, who is no stranger to the club. Arista spent last season at Shelley, being a regular in their NCEL squad and gaining valuable experience before rejoining the club for a second bite at the cherry. Both manager and player had the following words: 𝐃𝐁 “I’m really pleased to get Arista back at the club after gaining experience at step 6 level, something he definitely deserved and will come back to Horbury as a much more rounded player. Even when he was at the club two seasons ago, he was a part of the squad but for his personal development, he found regular game time and now returns hungry to be a part of the successes. I believe he’ll be a great player for years to come and don’t even have to question the fit within the squad. It’s an exciting time for both player and club and I look forward to seeing him develop further”. 𝐀𝐋 “It feels great to return to a club where I spent many years, starting as a junior where I had many happy memories. The decision was an easy one, especially having known a fair few of the group from my previous time here. On a personal note, I definitely needed last season. To gain experience at this level and build up a run of games which I feel I did, it can only benefit me and stand me in good stead this season back in the Horbury colours. I’ve been working very hard since finding out about having the opportunity to come back here and have put my full focus into doing so. My goals are simple, I want to push myself to be a regular starter and help contribute to the team in any way I can”. Arista will wear the Horbury colours again for the first time on 5th July as we entertain Beverley Town to kickstart the pre season campaign.

𝐔𝟐𝟑𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 ✍️ On the eve of pre-season, the club are delighted that Paul Howard has taken on the responsibility of the U23s side for the upcoming season. Having being involved with our 18s and being a major part in the successes of our junior sections as chairman, it seems the perfect fit for the club. With great knowledge of the 17s and 18s already who are ready to take the step up the 23s, Paul will work closely with manager Darren Barnes to create the perfect pathway to the senior team, which saw close to double figures of last years squad make the bench at least and be impactful for the champions outfit. This season, the youngsters will be heavily involved in pre season with the seniors, getting a taste of a higher standard of football, which can only be a positive impact to their development. If any players are interested in becoming a part of the 23s next season, then please contact Paul - 07876 680811

𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭, 𝐄𝐨𝐢𝐧 🍀 The club would like to put on record our thanks to Eoin Schofield who after nine years at the club in numerous spells, has moved onto pastures new. “Eoin, alongside Gibril and Luke, are our three longest standing members of the club, having seen us go through the trials and tribulations of the West Yorkshire League for a number of years. You’ll struggle to find a better bloke than Eoin and that can be said for his family as well, who have been supporters of the club, week in week out. They will be extremely missed and thank them massively for the years of support for the club. Understandably, Eoin is looking for more game time, something which I cannot agree at this stage and completely understand his reasonings for wanting to move on. Despite a tough year on the pitch for him with not so many minutes, his commitment and effort off the pitch never dipped and continuously put in the hard yards to give himself every opportunity of getting game time. I hope it was all worth it. The league title you won isn’t something that can be taken away from you. To all the Schofields - please don’t be strangers. There is always a place for you at the club and hopefully we see you at further games”. We wish you all the best in the future and will be keeping an eye on your progress.

From being a day away from withdrawing from the league, having no squad, no budget & a club with very little prospect of competing, we finish with a sense of optimism & purpose for 25-26. The foundations are now there to progress. Top people throughout @NostellMWFC ⚫🟡

𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬, 𝗚𝗜𝗕 | ❤️ As most of you will be aware by now, yesterday’s victory against Yorkshire Amateur has been dampened by the results that Gibril Bojang has unfortunately had a break to his Fib, with a three month minimum recovery. Fingers crossed for the prolonged period being as positive as possible, with surgery also a possible option too. It goes without saying that everyone involved within the club, fans included, wish Gibril a speedy recovery and we cannot wait to see you back in a Horbury shirt next season. Discussions are being made by the club on a fundraising event for Gib and further details will be provided in due course. Added motivation now for the dream outcome for the club. ❤️
