@ptreviewer CAPTE should instead require robust faculty mentoring programs that foster teaching excellence. While having a terminal academic degrees provides one with the experience and knowledge for scholarly output, it may not translate to best teaching practices in the classroom.

Does anyone know of a comprehensive guide to MSK masqueraders or conditions Physios Absolutely need to refer out. That’s where I think our diagnosis is important. Not for the things we can help with but the things we can’t.

Doctors are only as good as the information they have before making a medical decision. But EMR’s overload us with unnecessary info and scatter pertinent information - making it time-consuming or nearly impossible to find. (Thanks @subhaairan for naming these problems)

@GregLehman Any UE involvement? I see lots of CIDP in the hospital appear similar to this presentation/gait. Would also want to r/o even more serious NM pathology like ALS, or CMT like others mentioned, or some other sort of multi-focal motor neuropathy… good catch.

Can I get some thoughts on causes of bilateral calf atrophy. Unable to calf raise, poor 1 leg balance with eyes closed. Has seen a neurologist but no diagnosis or concerns. I’ve sent them back to their MD for another opinion. Also very weak R. Dorsiflexion. With consent.

Glimmers are the opposite of triggers. They’re moments when your nervous system is grounded, you feel fully at peace, and comfortable inside your body. Examples: 1. Feeling the sun on your skin 2. Laying with your pet 3. Hugging your partner 4. Being in awe of nature 5. Being with a group of people that inspire you 6. Creating something beautiful 7. Having your favorite song on repeat 8. Dancing without feeling self conscious Glimmers send the signal to our nervous system that we’re safe. They are moments we feel at one with collective consciousness. Glimmers are hope.

One viable option for implementing seated leg extensions immediately following ACL reconstruction. Isometrics or partial repetitions at greater degrees of knee flexion are generally favorable for adaptations related to strength and hypertrophy. e3rehab.com/blog/leg-exten…

How do you describe this xray to your patient?? Now, assume they’re 48 and very active. RT and running. They’re still running. They just started to note some mild pain a week ago. They wanted to be sure nothing was “seriously wrong.”

@hjluks @AlejandroPirisN I think the definition of pain itself explains the “disparity” - “an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage.”

@AlejandroPirisN I've seen that X-ray in folks who no longer have pain ... and those who have severe pain and others who are somewhere in between
