TAPPS Division II - District 1 Trinity Christian School-Lubbock @TCSLionFootball Head Coach: Riley White @hurdle4Him 📝 2025 Outlook Lubbock Trinity Christian enters its second year in TAPPS Division II determined to close the gap in 2024. Head coach Riley White returns a core of experienced players, including one of the district’s most physical linebacker units led by Deacon Highley @HighleyDeacon and Blake Mandry @Blake__Mandry. The Lions also bring back speed and playmaking ability across the skill positions giving the offense and secondary a much-needed boost. Depth and consistency in the trenches remain the biggest hurdle, but with a more balanced roster and competition brewing at quarterback, Trinity Christian has a chance to take meaningful steps forward in 2025. 🔥 Things to Like 🔹 Dynamic linebacker unit: The Lions boast one of the toughest linebacking trios in the district with Highley, Mandry and Rhett Highley @HighleyRhett. Their blend of strength, tackling ability, and leadership gives Trinity a defensive identity to rally around. 🔹 Versatile skill playmakers: Joshua Moreno @JoshuaMarrero18 brings speed out of the backfield while doubling as a defensive back, and Dawson Ashley @DawsonAshley_18 returns as a big-bodied receiver with downfield potential. Add in contributors like Ryder Toman @RyderToman and J.J. Jordan, plus senior transfer WR/DB Cooper Carthel — a multi-time All-District performer at Lubbock Christian — and the Lions have multiple ways to create mismatches offensively and shore up the secondary. 🔹 Quarterback competition: Senior Braydon Jowers @braydon_jowers1 and junior Carson Castillo @CarsonCastillo7 are battling for the starting role, with both bringing unique skill sets. Whoever emerges will inherit a balanced arsenal of weapons and could elevate the offense from inconsistent to dangerous. 👀 Things to Watch 🔹 Line play and depth in the trenches: Both offensive and defensive fronts remain the biggest concern. Without improved size and stability up front, the Lions’ linebackers and skill talent may be forced to shoulder too heavy a load. 🔹 Replacing graduated production: Graduation and offseason transfers left gaps at several positions, forcing underclassmen into key roles. The @TCSLionFootball team had a great showing @ENMUFootball’s 7on7 Tourney today! After going 3-2 in pool play, our Lion’s went 3-0 through the playoff & won huge Semi-Final & Championship game rematches against (ABQ) Legacy Academy & 2024 2A NMAA State Champion Texico HS!
