Nolan Ryan was 77-0 when he had a lead in the seventh inning, he finished all 77 of those games. #Unreal

The easy narrative is that Keaton Wagler was an unseen, off-circuit recruit.
The real story is a lot more complicated and explains the imperfect art of modern recruiting.

Most elbow injuries for pitchers happen in the spring.
Short offseasons.
Quick ramp-ups.
Immediate max effort.
And then we wonder why elbows flare up.
High school pitchers don’t get a gradual build like pros do.
They go from downtime to 5 innings real fast.
Now here’s the hard question:
Do freshmen and sophomores really need fall ball?
Or would 3 extra months to:
- Lift
- Build strength
- Manage workload
- Develop properly
actually protect their arm long-term?
Exposure matters.
But availability matters more.
And most high school baseball players don't have an exposure problem, they have a DEVELOPMENT problem.
What’s your take on fall ball?

Every pitcher wants to throw harder, but how do you do it without blowing out your arm?
Carter Hohn of @CarterHohn14 training broke this down perfectly.
If you’re a high school or college pitcher, here’s what most guys are getting wrong:
1️⃣ They don’t recover.
Not sleeping enough.
Not eating enough.
Scrolling until 1am and wondering why they feel flat and their shoulders are rolled forward.
You can’t throw 90+ on a nervous system that’s fried.
2️⃣ They train like football players.
Olympic lifts.
Back squats.
Random programs that don’t match how they move on the mound.
Pitchers need strength that supports rotation, posture, hip control, and efficient mechanics.
That’s why anterior loading, front-rack positions, and smarter single-leg work matter.
It changes how your body moves, not just how much you lift.
3️⃣ They stop lifting in season.
This one kills progress.
If you don’t train during the season, you’re losing strength while you compete.
4️⃣ They chase “perfect mechanics” and don't manage their workload properly.
Perfect doesn’t exist.
Efficiency does.
And that requires individualized coaching and proper workload management.
If you’re serious about taking care of your body like a college or pro arm, start there.

#Angels prospect Nate Snead, a third-rounder in last year's Draft, just threw 1-2-3 eighth inning and showed off a 100.5 mph sinker. He was a reliever at the University of Tennessee last year with Giants manager Tony Vitello as his head coach.

@SanJacRaven43 Who are the Jucos with the below 85 arms? maybe we should schedule them 😂😂😂
English

This isn’t real… almost beyond believable
Brent Pourciau, M.S.@TopVelocity
If your son is a pitcher trying to get recruited: Below 85 mph = D3/JUCO conversation 85-88 mph = D1 conversation begins 90+ mph = full scholarship territory The gap is bridgeable — but not through arm work alone. The research is clear: it starts with the legs and hips.
