Righteousness of any particular cause aside, the protest circuit attracts a segment of unstable individuals who engage in antisocial behaviour under the guise of activism. This woman is a complete stranger to us. Her social media posts portray an alternate reality in which we are cast as antagonists, while she presents herself as courageous and part of “the resistance” for confronting my videographer based on wrong assumptions about his motives. The replies to her inflammatory posts include false allegations, defamatory statements, suggestions and threats of violence against him, requests for his address and phone number, and dehumanizing insults.
