A permanent telemedicine expansion would allow patients to schedule appointments months ahead of time without fear of needing to find last-minute rides to come in person.

Our office cancelled all telemedicine appointments for patients on Medicare and converted them to in person appointments. We didn’t have office space for all of the providers who work from home on their telemedicine days. Patients didn’t always have rides and had to cancel.

During the government shutdown last fall, Medicare patients lost access to telemedicine services. We need a permanent telemedicine bill to permanently allow patients access to their doctors over virtual platforms. #NOH26 #AANadvocacy

To see a neurologist, people on Medicare have to wait a median of 34 days. 18% of patients wait more than 90 days. 20% of Medicare recipients travel over 50 miles to receive neurologic care.

How much a doctor’s office gets paid for seeing a patient has decreased by 33% since 2001, when adjusted for inflation 🤯 No wonder so many private practices get bought up by hospital systems or private equity. #NOH26 #AANadvocacy

It costs more for my office to pay our staff to help us see a patient on Medicare than we get reimbursed by Medicare… private practices need to make financial decisions to stay open. Our Medicare patients wait longer for a new patient appointment because of this.
