On a very serious note, there is something going on that is starting to feel less anecdotal and more like a trend. Too many people are experiencing this, and it no longer seems like a generational quirk but a crisis bubbling under the surface, with people suffering in silence. Women in their late 30s and 40s. I've heard this of so many that it can no longer be brushed off. Women who are burned out, and even saying "burned out" feels like an understatement. They are working incredibly hard and contending with unspoken horrors hidden behind a facade of being "strong." I went through my own burnout, and recovery was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. It took intensive behavioral therapy to unlearn the self-destructive relationship I had with work. I am on the other side and I know just how rough it can be. I don't know what the point of this post is except to say: 1. I am worried. 2. There needs to be an empirical study to quantify what feels like a significant mental health crisis that is not being adequately addressed and will become a sad tale of a generation spoken about way too late. Let's bring this issue to light and support those who are silently struggling. I must add: this is not me opening up the door to negation and criticism. Scroll past and keep your unsolicited opinion to yourself for once. No one asked you. We are no damsels in distress asking for your rescue, don’t get it twisted. 🫸🏾 I am reaching out to women I am deeply worried about. And hopefully to men too, who recognize this and may need a behavioral pivot. I hope to start a conversation that will result in some sort of recognition that there is a problem and it needs to be dealt with. I should probably write about this, but I do not feel I have the tools to do so. Anyway, I hope it helps. You are not alone. There is nothing wrong with you, there is something wrong with society.
