This highlights how college athletic programs can consider mixed-gender opportunities to foster not only trans/non-binary inclusion but also be more welcoming to cisgender men who may not express traditional masculinity. Rec athletics is an existing model for such inclusion. 5/5

Sexual minority men shared a key characteristic they look for: the presence of "gender outsiders" - those transgressing trad gender norms or, in male-dominated settings, cisgender women. Mixed-gender sports are more welcoming to sexual minority men than sex-segregated ones. 4/5

Just now, TX Gov Abbott signed a law banning trans athletes from college sports. Recently, AL signed similar legislation for K-12 athletes. Our hearts break for trans, nonbinary & intersex Alabamians & Texans who simply want to live safe & public lives. athleteally.org/athlete-ally-r…

Russian politicians are trying to fully ban gender-affirming health services. And they've smuggled in an exception for medically unnecessary surgeries on intersex children. Sounds a lot like right wing politicians in the US. hrw.org/news/2023/06/0…
